Review: New Rock 591 Boots

Greetings, Darklings! Today I will be doing a review on the New Rock 591 boots which I bought near enough two years ago. A friend suggested the brand 'New Rock' to me when my very dearly beloved platforms had seen better days. At first, I was a little hesitant over whether I should repurchase another pair of Demonias but when I came across a specific style of New Rocks, I fell in love - quite literally.
I must have spent a good few hours scrolling through the site deciding on which model number I liked best until I came across the red flame exterior and by god, I was automatically drawn in. I mean, what's not to love? They're aesthetically pleasing... well, to me at least. I have to admit, I feel pretty badass when I'm wearing them accompanied with a leather jacket. Next on my list: buy a snazzy Harley-Davidson and start a motorcycle club. Hey, a girl can dream. Oh, Opie Winston, how I love thee.
New Rock is a Spanish company which specialises in Gothic footwear and clothing. Normally, the boots range from one hundred and twenty pounds and upwards depending on your chosen style but I'm pretty certain that if you do some browsing, you could probably end up finding them online either new or used for a much more reasonable price if you grudge paying over fifty pounds for footwear. However, due to the fact that they're almost as long lasting as Doc Martens, you genuinely do get what you pay for, especially when their name is imprinted everywhere which is a nice wee finishing touch and shows that they're genuine.

After wearing 'alternative' footwear for so long, it came as no surprise that these bad boys were going to destroy my feet for the next few months or so thus I stocked up on thick over the knee socks which worked an absolute treat. A word of warning: they weigh an absolute ton so walking up stairs will be hellish for the first few weeks or so. Also, please try and refrain from testing out WWE moves unless your intention is to cause someone an injury. In order to speed up the process a little bit faster, I'd advise sizing up due to the fact that they're tightly fitted and are made of real leather which isn't the most comfortable to begin with but make sure that they're not too oversized.

I'm not sure whether these stores are located in other countries but if you live in the Glasgow area you can buy New Rock boots in 'alternative' stores such as Osiris or Inferno which are both located in Queen Street. From personal experience, the service in Osiris is always wonderful whether that's in person or on their website so if you're unsure as to whether you should size up or not, they'll be more than happy to help.

When I purchased them, I had a quick look online and came across methods in aid of breaking them in quicker. Several sources suggested soaking them in cold water, hitting the sole with a hammer, etc. Personally, I don't see the point in paying a considerable amount of money to destroy the exterior in the space of a few minutes therefore I gave these methods a swift miss. However, if you're determined to wear them straight away then be prepared for your ankles to replicate a promotional video for 'Raining Blood' - to put it in the most appetising way possible. 'Appetite for Destruction', we have a match.
I've had these now for nearly two years and these boots are amongst the comfiest shoes that I own. In the winter, the leather keeps your feet warm and in the summer, they don't get too hot. It's a bizarre combination but they're ideal all year round. It gets to the point where you feel as if you're wearing slippers due to the inside padding - even when you've been walking long distances. There's nothing more metal than that, psssht.

Due to the fact that I'm a music enthusiast and attend a lot of gigs, I've been wearing these boots quite regularly. Bare in mind when there's moshing going on, the last thing you want is for your shoes to come fleeing off and ending up whacking some poor wee guy at the other side of the room in the face so the zip-up design and sturdiness of the boot is ideal.
Like everything else, you will need to take into account that the experience will be different for each person. When it comes to this specific brand, there is an everlasting love/hate relationship ranging from one individual to another. However, if that puts you off, there's a vegan leather option which appears to be the most comfortable design within their range. Just a heads up!

I'll continue to wear these babies until they've seen better days. If you have any more questions regarding this review or any general enquiries, don't hesitate to ask me a question and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
