My Vinyl Collection: Part 1 of 2

Greetings, Darklings! I've received a fair share of questions over the past week asking if I'll make a post about my vinyl collection so here it is. I wouldn't class what I have as a 'collection' as such due to the fact that it is an ongoing process but for length purposes, I'm going to split my records in half and add additional sections as the months pass and my wee stash expands. 

If there's one thing I love, it's hunting for records regardless of the mood I'm in. It's the same with books thus I very rarely buy anything new. I feel that brand new items lose significance over a short period of time whereas you're guaranteed to be left with a lasting feeling of joy after purchasing an item with some sort of background behind it. The thought of knowing other people have experienced what you're feeling as that same record spins around assembling instrumentals that light up the room in a split second is enough to transform any form of melancholy into an exhilarating atmosphere. I quite like the idea of having to manually change the song as opposed to having modern technology automatically do it for you.

Some of my records were given to me by my parents whereas the vast majority were bought from local record stores. I have a habit of visiting little towns when I'm out adventuring in the hope of discovering an aesthetically pleasing record that catches my attention. This isn't always the case, it's like pot luck. You win some and you lose some but that's what makes it ever so worthwhile. Especially when you come across a record that you've been eyeing up for a while.

"Butterfly on a Wheel" is a 7" Gothic Rock single by The Mission. It was released in 1989. Butterfly on a Wheel is on side one and The Grip of Disease is on side two.

"December" is a 7" Folk Rock/New Wave/Gothic Rock single by All About Eve. It was released in 1989. December is on side one and Drowning is on side two.

"Alive and Kicking" is a 7" Electronic/Synth-Pop single by Simple Minds. It was released in 1985. Alive and Kicking is on side one and Alive and Kicking (Instrumental) is on side two.

"Enjoy The Silence" is a 7" Electronic/Synth-Pop single by Depeche Mode. It was released in 1990. Enjoy The Silence is on side one and Memphisto is on side two.

"Four More From Toyah" is a 7" New Wave single by Toyah. It was released in 1981. Good Morning Universe and Urban Tribesmen are on side one. In The Fairground and The Furious Futures are on side two.

"Everything Counts" is a 7" Synth-Pop single by Depeche Mode. It was released in 1983. Everything Counts is on side one and Work Hard is on side two.

"Mirror Man" is a 7" Synth-Pop single by The Human League. It was released in 1982. Mirror Man is on side one and You Remind Me of Gold is on side two.

"Don't You (Forget About Me)" is a 7" Synth-Pop/Ambient single by Simple Minds - featured in The Breakfast Club. It was released in 1985. Don't You (Forget About Me) is on side one and Brass Band In Africa is on side two.

"Sadness Part 1" is a 7" Ambient single by Enigma. It was released in 1990. A radio edit of Sadness part 1 is on side one and a meditation mix version is on side two.
